All parts away for the progress of souls;
All religion, all solid things, arts, governments, all
that was or is apparent upon this globe or any globe,
falls into niches and corners before the procession of
Souls along the grand roads of the universe.
-Walt Whitman, Song of the Open Road, Public Domain.
After the seventh sojourn, I see the unborn soul glide through the universe on its way to birth in the tangible realm. Its mannerisms, shadows, achievements, and human qualities, influential in the next round, are all inflected by its flight through the stars, planets, and moons of the cosmos. The journey continues until it reaches its final birth in the human body.
The soul loves the dark shadows and deep spaces where healing can begin to take place. We are lead to these depths when we recognize the dark gods of our nature. We must immerse ourselves with our shadow self. If left unattended these needs will express themselves in unexpected varying degrees much to our own humiliation.
Dark periods, dark moons are ‘the best and worst of times’; trying to find an identity, to hear a voice within… to find the soul. You welcomed pain as you do bliss and come back to a deep awareness. Listen to the voice of pain and fear as they scream. Remember, Hermes turned depression into poetry thus God and human nature are in harmony.
The soul is ubiquitous, micro and macro, a drop of water and the entire ocean. It is the one and the many, an individual and society, it occupies the temporal and eternity, it’s divided and together at the same time. It uses dreams to move along the road of life, which is in itself just a dream. It lives in the past, as well as the future but is always in the present. It is all that is known, the knower of all that is known and the relationship between them. It is the center and the circumference. It rises to the highest mountains as it sinks to the lowest depths. The abyss is not really empty for it has soul and soul is constantly in the act of emptying out… cleansing the canyon walls. The process we face is to feel the soul express itself and heal on all levels.
The soul expands and contracts accordingly. It conforms to intimate needs, expands in reaction to social situations. We take all it gives and in turn we bring back all we’ve learned… a perfect circle.
