“All you have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given you” -Gandalf

This blog is an ongoing collection of writing I’ve completed with more in progress. I’ve written about spirituality, science, literature, poetry, and much more.

What makes this unique is that I didn’t start writing until my diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 2012.

My first inkling of this connection was an article I read after I began writing concerning a link between creativity and Parkinson’s. What I discovered is that this connection is not at all uncommon although the research hasn’t caught up to it until recently.

So please sit a while and enjoy.

Peace, JC

For my post on Parkinson’s and creativity please see: Parkinson’s, the Starry Night and Creativity

  1. My God Parkinson’s is such a trying disease, it shows a true triumph of will and overcoming to find a way to create something positive from news such as that. Your keeping a record like this gives a unique angle at the disease, it’s tremendous that you’ve taken such a negative and created an artistic positive. I can only imagine what kind of path it must be like, but at least others who are experiencing the same will have a more personal connection through this blog to know they are not alone. I wish you the best of luck in all you do and in your finding meaning as you fight this disease, Godspeed

    1. Thank you so much, Oscar for your kind words! There are silver linings in every cloud and I guess I choose to see that. But even in thunderstorms there is something beautiful to behold as they drift in and out. All things must pass and I prefer to be positive as they do.

      1. You’re more than welcome! It’s a sign of an optimized mind to find those kinds of silver linings in such dire straits. Beautiful message there, understanding that all things must pass but keeping in mind that one has the right to be positive as they do. I’ll do my best to navigate my own lesser storms of life with such a mindset, blessings

  3. I think you cannot know reality, until you must face it. But you do not have to face it, however you can never escape it. This perhaps, is our most important decision. And to do so in a way that creates love amidst despair, not bitterness or regret.

I would guess you have done all of these things, and more… Seeing your writing. It is hard when such things come, earlier perhaps than expected, but I have hope for myself seeing your example. I hope you do not mind my long comment, or my suppositions. I just hope to set your example for myself in mind, and wanted to tell you.

    Very good wishes to you.

    1. I thank you very much for your comments. I know some who are very bitter and I understand that fear. However for me, it was by far easier to accept and move on. I knew that negative attitude would destroy me if I let it.

      Best Regards,
      JC
