Ode to Joy… cheerful again

The joyful state, the combined results all states of being bringing laughter to the soul, empathy to the heart and compassion to the mind. ‘Joy’ that comes from the mindful observation of nature and how it’s triggered by the slightest of phenomenon.. positive and negative, right and wrong, joy and sadness; for you can’t know one without its other. Such feelings can come from a variety of stimulus. For me, it’s more often than not, music. Music that captivates me and brings me deep within the confines of life, only to lift me to heights unimaginable by the confines of life. Continue reading “Ode to Joy… cheerful again”

Across the Mystic Sea

I awoke from an old dream last evening as the sun kissed the sky and rain came pouring in across the room. I am captured in time, of no major importance save that of time itself formed at the beginning of time save that of the mystic sea from whence we came. Continue reading “Across the Mystic Sea”

Mother

“Words used in different form and measure tell the story of our lives. Such stories conjunct other stories creating a collective story, word for word. When perfected, and connected, they sound of music playing in perfect harmony. They dance to the rhythm of meter and time on the road to meaning and understanding.” -jc Continue reading “Mother”

Bliss

blissFind something, anything, which is so encompassing that in a given block of time it enthralls you to get lost together in unconsciousness. Such things are beyond space and time, it is bliss and one only questions the indignities of why when not doing this transcendent work. Continue reading “Bliss”

Farewell Bohemia

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA“I’ve never known a writer who didn’t feel ill at ease in the world. … We all feel un-housed in some sense. That’s part of why we write. We feel we don’t fit in, that this world is not our world, that though we may move in it, we’re not of it. … You don’t need to write a novel if you feel at home in the world.” -Andrea Barrett Continue reading “Farewell Bohemia”

And at the end of the day
The vast array of stars in the night sky
Give sight to the moon holding secret
The meeting of an endless ocean to an endless horizon.
It is here that one can embrace the vastness of the universe
And it is here I shall stay. Continue reading “Ocean”

Consider… The Soul, Vol. 2

J98QBNOWT3The Artist
Artistic expression is an undertaking of reverence toward the soul; of hidden things in the night which will simultaneously expand and unlock its secrets to the advantage of one’s art. But where do these epiphanies come from… esoterically without or within?

Comfort in Your Own Skin
Soul is anything you do for yourself that feels comfortable to you; it centers you, completes you. It could be the clothes you wear, the music you hear, a morning cup of coffee. The soul requires this comfort. What is offbeat to one is soulful to another. Continue reading “Consider… The Soul, Vol. 2”

Onward To the Palace of Wisdom- Truth

B56661025BIt’s said that the angels on high are joyous whenever someone turns their back on the everyday mundane 9 to 5 life.  That‘s the journey, as Van Morrison sang, “From the dark end of the street to the bright side of the road”. The signs along this path are the inkling of a universe wanting to speak to us. Every turn is a lesson, the winking of an eye, which is contemplated only by those who stay young at heart. The Canyon

N59BYOWHER-freestockphotosA bit of advice given to a young Native American at the time of his initiation: ‘As you go the way of life, you will see a great chasm. Jump. It is not as wide as you think.’ – Joseph Campbell, “Reflections on the Art of Living.”

As anyone who travels this canyon into oneself knows that its chasms cut deep. What’s                 expected runs amuck, the unexpected is in vogue and one must expect and accept the difference. Every time I held myself in amazement, overwhelmed at another crack discovered on the surface, another inkling of understanding, it was also matched by feelings of doubt and fear. Is it easier being numb, just grazing through life without  any direction or so we may believe at times. Continue reading “The Canyon”
