The joyful state, the combined results all states of being bringing laughter to the soul, empathy to the heart and compassion to the mind. ‘Joy’ that comes from the mindful observation of nature and how it’s triggered by the slightest of phenomenon.. positive and negative, right and wrong, joy and sadness; for you can’t know one without its other. Such feelings can come from a variety of stimulus. For me, it’s more often than not, music. Music that captivates me and brings me deep within the confines of life, only to lift me to heights unimaginable by the confines of life.
Music paints a backdrop to our lives… a score that colors the silence from whence we come time and time again to this idea of joy and to freely take of its potion and return to the rhythm of life as each individual crafts onto the canvas of the soul visions of sight and sound, ubiquitous but belonging to the singular adventures of love and lite.
My score for this week is a cover by Tom Petty of Van Morrison’s ‘I’m Tired Joey Boy’ with lyrics. Enjoy’… jc
I’m tired Joey Boy
While you’re out with the sheep
My life is so troubled
Now I can’t go to sleep
I would walk myself out
But the streets are so dark
I shall wait till the morning
And walk in the park
This life is so simple when
One is at home complaining
When there’s work to be done
Oh I’m tired Joey Boy of the makings of men
I would like to be cheerful again
Ambition will take you
And ride you too far and
Conservatism bring you to boredom once more
Sit down by the river
And watch the stream flow
Recall all the dreams
That you once used to know
The things you’ve forgotten
That took you away
To pastures not greener but meaner
Love of the simple is all that I need
I’ve no time for schism or lovers of greed
Go up to the mountain, go up to the glen
When silence will touch you
And heartbreak will mend.

Beautiful post J.C. And taking Vincent Van Gogh and his wild, dancing painting along makes Joy really shine.
I so agree that joy and sadness are but two sides of the same coin.
You have chosen music as one of the great transporter of joy and I agree as music is a direct media between man and art. So many artists within literature, painting and music agree.
I find there are many sources, multitudes, to feel joy. Equally so sorrow.
Unfortunately your music video doesn’t play in U.K. But I will find another recording.

Music is indeed powerful. It can make me experience things all over again, and be comforted in the process.
