Onward To the Palace of Wisdom- Love, Pt. 3

img_2952-2Someday after we have mastered the winds, the waves, and gravity, we will harness for God the energies of love; and then for a second time in the history of the world, humans will have discovered fire.”
-French philosopher Teilhard de Chardin.

The Perilous Bed
In Arthurian legend, this is the enchanted bed that jerks up and down, to and fro as it tries to catapult its inhabitants to the floor. All the while deadly spears and ferocious beast assault the sleeper. It is Gawain who finally defeats the bed.

The story of the Perilous Bed teaches that only the brave steeped in humility stay the night, earning the right to share in this human  relationship of love… to be at the ready when one meets the ultimate desire of the noble heart. We’ve been shaping our character through time and space… a hero’s adventure, thus our reaction to the perils of this bed posed in mindfulness and fortitude for we know that it is our fear that creates the bed and to conquer our fear is to conquer the false sense of what we think we are  to whom we really are.

We can then say, “As you walked, I followed and my hand slipped gently into yours in what felt so nature.

This is the inner comfort that the bed affords after we have stayed the course, traversed its mass, climbed its mountains, and descended its valleys.

“ Love is extravagant, in the price, it is willing to pay, the hardship it is willing to endure, and the strength it is willing to spend. Love never thinks in terms of “how little”, but always in terms of “how much”. Love gives, love knows, and love last…”
-Unknown

img_2949Intention
Love’s arrow is fate, subconsciously projected by means of a magic spell from the wizard of the soul. The ‘intended’ takes form as the Mysteries take over and guide the ‘intended’ across the universe, passing stars and planets gathering energies along the way. Fates intention is like Quantum Physics where all parts must be present to make the whole or like alchemy where nothing’s asserted until its time. Each of us is subservient to this destiny, we infuse the caldron of intent with our secret desire, the elixir is complete; loves target is designated.

“A man may have shortcomings, but if he loves greatly much will be forgiven him.”     -Ernest Holmes

Fire Or Fire
There is no escape. To willingly follow the path of love is to willingly endure the shirt of flames. It is groundless, it is uneasy, and it has no logic. But the flames will annihilate all that we aren’t; all the props, the mask, and bring out the true self that we are. We choose the fire of torment or the fire of renewal to all that love can show; it’s only a state of the hearts mind. Though it may not come
easily, when love appears, one has to burn with it, burning our ego-centered goals to realize the essence and soul of the relationship we are entering.

  1. You have had me speechless with this deep and beautiful post about love. Would it that we could reach such height and purity in our lives. Then again, maybe so.
Your writing and surety is brilliant, makes the heart sing. The quote by Chardin I have loved for long. How true!
The song too is tender and beautiful. You couldn’t go wrong today it seems.:)

    1. Thank you Mirja for such a wonderful compliment. It is always a pleasure to read your comments. I just couldn’t resist Otis Redding for the song.

  2. A beautiful thoughtful and thought-provoking study of love. I’m particularly taken with the idea of The Perilous Bed – painting such a visual image in my mind. Wonderful literary writing throughout; taken with sentences such as this one: ‘Each of us is subservient to this destiny, we infuse the caldron of intent with our secret desire, the elixir is complete; loves target is designated.’ Wow!

    1. Thank you, Annika. This was Gawain, who was head over heels in love with a woman who couldn’t stand him. So she sets up all kinds of task for him to do and one was the Perilous Bed. In the end, he did win her over but what a job he had to do.

  3. I was going to copy and paste parts of the last paragraph that I liked, until I re-read it several times and realized that I agree with the entire paragraph! This is the truth about true love and also about truly loving ourselves. There is no way you can submit to love without setting fire to the ego. This I know for sure.
