Onward To the Palace of Wisdom- The Student

63A9ED37CEYour vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. -Carl Jung

You look inside upon the vastness of the soul and realize how much you don’t know; you are a witness to your own inhibitions and ignorance. The canyon walls are inflected with beauty and ugliness, which in itself draws you in like a lover. You now know that you can never turn back and wouldn’t want to. Then a voice invites you to come closer, saying “this is real life hidden under the mask, stay for a while. So you bundle up and descend and will not come back the same, like a Hobbit on an adventure. Now become a poet to your own life.

  1. Beautiful and lyrical. May we all become poets in our lives – in whatever form that may take. I read a lot of Jung as a student whilst writing a thesis about ‘Dreams in Kleist’. Jung has a lot to say about dreams – the more I read, the less I could sleep!! I had to change my research source! 😀

  2. Thank you JC for taking us on this deep road to inner awareness. The image of the journey into the deep canyon of my soul makes me feel both frightened and excited.

You are right, one will never come back the same again, nor be satisfied living with a mask.
The song is wonderful as is the video. I love those covered bridges – not to forget the Southern skies.

    1. Thank you. Yes, it evokes these opposite feelings all at the same time, beauty and ugliness. And it’s these feelings that draw you in.

You’ve got to love those southern skies!

  3. In all honesty I was thinking about how my writing has developed over the years and there have been 2 serious periods where I was really big into writing poetry and I have no idea where any of it is.

  4. JC you know how much I adore your writing. I would like to feature you on my Friday friends. If people have personal stories, I like to ask first. I have had a post sitting in drafts for weeks but wasn’t sure if you would want me to post it. So, I will understand if you don’t want me to. Let me know.

      1. Is it ok if I say you have Parkinsons? I don’t want to say anything that is not my business to say. I have been back and forth on asking you but decided to just ask!! I am so glad you are interested and will put it up next week. I will also use one of you pictures if that is ok? Thanks JC!

  5. So few words, yet so powerful! Thank you for sharing. It inspires me to reveal what I fear to speak out about. Loved the quote by Carl Jung!
